WWW-Link
What is Www-Link(TM)?
Www-Link(TM)
is a patent pending software program
operating in a Microsoft Windows environment,
which gathers data from various types of window
based programs and automatically publishes the
information in an HTML format.
Www-Link(TM)
will reside as a Server operating in
various configurations and provide data to any
number of clients. The data can be gathered from
DDE, OLE, and Active X type programs such as Wonderware,
Interlussion etc.
Once the data has been made available in an HTML format,
it can be easily viewed from anywhere within a network
using a standard web-browser such as Netscape Navigator
or Microsoft Internet Explorer. If the server resides on
the Internet, the data is available everywhere in the
world.
Www-Link(TM)
uses serial communication to transfer data
between computers in lieu of the parallel method of
communication used by Microsoft.
All other data gathering type programs use parallel
communication when establishing a link between a
Server and Client. This is similar to being in a
large conference room and having the speaker ask for
everyone's name in the room and having everyone in
the room respond at the same time. The result will
be "high overhead/load" on the speaker's ear.
In essence the same things happens when a Server
application opens and tries to obtain several hundred
points of data from several clients. This also results
in "high overhead/load" on the network.
However if the speaker address each individual serially,
then the information will be received properly, the same
will happen when the Server requests the data from the
clients in a serial manner. Each bit of information is
requested, gathered and checked. Although this may
appear to be a time consuming process, the actual time
is less then ten seconds for a 1000 point system with
virtually no network overhead.
How do I use Www-Link(TM)?
Www-Link(TM)
can be used in an infinite number of
applications. However most applications can be
covered in two basic configurations.
Example 1:
Www-Link(TM)
used with directory sharing to
transfer and publish data.
Example 2:
Www-Link(TM)
used with PC linking over the
World Wide Web to transfer and publish data.
